API Gateway X-ray tracing not enabled

AWS X-ray tracing provides you with an end-to-end view of an HTTP request. This helps you understand the latency and details of API requests and workings of downstream services.

Dashbird continuously monitors and analyses your serverless applications to ensure reliability, cost and performance optimisation and alignment with the Well Architected Framework.

Why do I see this?

One of your API stages doesn’t have X-Ray tracing enabled.

What does this mean?

You can use AWS X-Ray to trace and analyze user requests as they travel through your API to the underlying services. API Gateway supports X-Ray tracing for all API Gateway endpoint types: Regional, edge-optimized, and private.

You can use X-Ray with Amazon API Gateway in all AWS Regions where X-Ray is available. See Trace API Gateway API Execution with AWS X-Ray in the Amazon API Gateway Developer Guide for more information.

How to enable API Gateway X-ray tracing?

The AWS documentation explains how to enable X-Ray tracing for your API stages.
